Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how English TestLab (“English TestLab”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the English TestLab - TOEIC® Test mobile application (the “App”) or this English TestLab website (the “Website”).

1) Summary (Key Points)

• Most learning progress and preferences are stored locally on your device.
• The App does not require an account, name, email address, or custom User ID.
• We use pseudonymous installation identifiers and product-interaction data for app analytics, attribution, and measurement of our advertising campaigns.
• The Website temporarily stores incoming campaign parameters and the referring page in your browser to generate the appropriate English TestLab App Store link and QR code.
• We do not use IDFA, do not create cross-app behavioral profiles, and do not use the App’s data for personalized retargeting across unrelated apps or websites.
• AI features send learning content and performance data for processing only after you opt in. You can revoke AI permission in the App under Settings > AI & Privacy.

3) Analytics and Advertising Measurement

We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand App usage and improve the App. Firebase assigns a pseudonymous App Instance ID, measures product interactions, and may derive general location from a masked IP address. We do not set a Firebase User ID and do not enable IDFA-based analytics.

We use AppsFlyer to measure installs, sessions, onboarding completion, paywall views, and exam start or completion events. The iOS App uses AppsFlyer’s Strict configuration, which does not collect IDFA. A RevenueCat anonymous App User ID may be supplied to AppsFlyer as a pseudonymous customer identifier, and the AppsFlyer ID may be supplied to RevenueCat so purchase conversions can be attributed consistently.

Campaign and conversion information may be shared through AppsFlyer or RevenueCat with advertising platforms such as Google Ads to measure the effectiveness of English TestLab’s own advertising. This use is disclosed as Developer’s Advertising or Marketing. It is not used to display third-party advertising inside the App, and our current iOS configuration does not use IDFA or cross-app personalized retargeting.

The App does not send price, currency, transaction ID, or purchase value as a separate client-side analytics event. Purchase and revenue reporting is handled by Apple, RevenueCat, and configured server-side integrations to avoid duplicate reporting.

4) Purchases

If you purchase Premium or restore purchases, Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and receipt information to validate the transaction, prevent fraud, restore access, and manage your entitlement. RevenueCat also uses purchase history for customer history, analytics, and service metrics.

We may use pseudonymous purchase and conversion information to measure our own advertising campaigns, including through AppsFlyer and Google Ads. We do not use your purchase history for third-party advertising inside the App or for cross-app behavioral tracking.

On the Website, AppsFlyer Smart Script generates campaign-aware App Store links and QR codes in the browser. We do not enable the optional Smart Script impression call as part of this website integration.

5) AI Features (AI Explanation and AI Coach)

AI requests are sent only after you opt in. Depending on the feature, a request may include:

• Exam, question, passage or document content, and answer options
• Your selected and correct answers and built-in explanation, when applicable
• Performance summaries such as correctness, score, total questions, timing, weak areas, streak, or recent attempt summaries
• App metadata such as platform, app version, locale, AI language, and timezone
• For AI Coach, a limited set of mistake samples, including relevant question-bank metadata and truncated passages or documents when needed

Requests first pass through the English TestLab Firebase gateway. Depending on service configuration and availability, they may be processed by OpenAI or forwarded through our n8n fallback service. These processors receive the request only to provide and operate the AI feature.

6) Service Providers and Sharing

We share only the information needed for the purposes described in this policy with:

• Apple, for App Store purchases, restore, and Apple Ads attribution
• RevenueCat, for purchase validation, entitlements, analytics, and attribution
• Firebase and Google Analytics, for app analytics and service infrastructure
• AppsFlyer, for installation, event, and campaign attribution
• Google Ads, when enabled, for campaign and conversion measurement
• Firebase Functions, n8n, and OpenAI, as applicable, for opted-in AI processing

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information or share App data with data brokers.

7) AI Permission and Controls

• The App asks for permission before the first AI request is sent.
• You can revoke permission in Settings > AI & Privacy.
• After revocation, future AI requests are not sent unless you explicitly opt in again.
• Revoking AI permission does not disable local learning and exam features.

8) Storage and Retention

• On-device data: remains on your device until you delete it through available App controls or remove the App.
• Analytics and attribution data: is retained according to the configured retention periods and policies of Firebase, Google Analytics, AppsFlyer, and associated advertising platforms.
• Website campaign parameters: remain in browser storage only for the Smart Script’s configured short attribution window and are removed or ignored after expiry. You can clear them sooner by clearing this Website’s browser data.
• Purchase data: is retained by Apple and RevenueCat as needed for transaction records, entitlement restoration, fraud prevention, analytics, and legal obligations.
• AI requests: may be present in limited operational logs where necessary for security, reliability, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting. AI and infrastructure providers retain data according to their configured services and applicable policies.

9) Your Choices and Deletion

• Revoke AI permission under Settings > AI & Privacy.
• Manage notification permission in the App or iOS Settings.
• Clear the Website’s stored campaign data through your browser settings.
• Remove locally stored App data by deleting the App.
• Contact us to ask a privacy question or request deletion of data we control. Because the App has no account, we may need the relevant anonymous identifier or transaction information to locate a provider-side record, and we may retain records required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or transaction purposes.

10) Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

11) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, providers, or data practices change. We will update the “Last updated” date and publish the revised version at https://www.englishtestlab-toeic.app/privacy-policy.
